The Arms:
Or, a lion rampant sable. between two otter’s heads erased in chief proper and a cinquefoil in base of the second, all within the Royal tressure of the last.
The Crest:
An armed dexter hand holding a cap of dignity Purpure, facing Ermine.
Supporters: Dexter – a falcon, wings elevated and addorsed Proper, belled, beaked and charged on the breast with two laurel conjoined Or; Sinister – a gryphon Sable, charged in like manner with two branches of laurel.

Born 19 August 1848. Married 27 June 1898 to Constance Augusta, daughter of Capt. Charles Edward Tennant R.N. By her ( who died 26 December 1914 ). There was issue:
1. Charles James b. 16 April 1899
2. Mary Constance Victoria b. 22 January 1901.
Descent is via Archibald Buchanan of Auchintorlie and Hillington, son of George Buchanan of Buchanan House, Glasgow ( see Burkes Landed Gentry, Carrick-Buchanan of Drumpellier. )
